Additional close-up detail for previous sighting 4562210. The first image shows one of the spider's feet which is covered with setae (hairs) that branch out into smaller and smaller fibres. Miniscule van der Waals’ forces act on the large number of these small fibres on each furry seta, allowing the spider to attach to all kinds of surfaces, in this case, hanging upside down from a sheet of glass.
