Since this sighting is south of the Abercrombie River, it's probably the nominate subspecies Hemiergis talbingoensis talbingoensis.

Tropidechis carinatus

Two very similar looking species are found in this area, one harmless (Freshwater Snake (Tropidonophis mairii) and one highly venomous species, the Rough-scaled Snake (Tropidechis carinatus). This one is the latter, as it doesn't appear to have a loreal scale, which although out of focus on the side-on head shot, can just be made out to be absent.
