While they do not match images of Conoeca guildingi on Bold they are a reasonable match for an image of a female of Conoeca guildingi, Scott, in the article by Schachat & Brown, 2017 Wing patterns of ditrysian moths (Lepidoptera: Psychidae) include variants and violations of predictive models. I put this to Ethan Beaver who replied "They certainly look like Conoeca guildingi to me. But I don't know the micro psychids very well"
So are we to conclude that adults of L. adelopis, L. annosellla, some other Lepidoscia species and C. guildingi are all so variable that the species cannot be determined from superficial photographs ?
OK, I'm not sure why the text is lost but the supporting text reads: '"Lepidoscia adelopis, annosella and similar species A Case moth Based on reference to the type photos of Lepidoscia annosella and Lepidoscia adelopis they are both old photos of very worn specimens, being little help in distinguishing between these two species beyond saying they are mottled grey species. Therefore these two species have been merged together here as 'Lepidoscia adelopis, annosella and similar species'. Lepidoscia adelopis, annosella and similar species is listed in the following regions:" when referred to via Canberra Nature Map website itself via the top right drpdown box.
