Don, I always separate these two species from the hindwing, based on Lucas’s original description which states for obliqualis, “Hindwings as forewings, a rich fuscous band from two-third costa obliquely to one-third inner margin”. This band is much easier than comparing forewings, making this species obliqualis. Took me a while to find this hack.
