User's notes

Possibly Golden Digger wasps, Sphex ermineus. Very large and loud in flight. The sequence of images shows two of four wasps that were digging nests into a pile of fine gravel. The fourth image shows one of the wasps removing a piece of gravel whilst digging the nest. There was some interaction between the wasps in the air and whilst on the ground digging the nests.
