User's notes

It was sighted resting on the ground, took off when interrupted, and then quickly returned to the same spot on the ground. It was very loud in flight and parts of the head and body appeared to be covered with golden coloured hairs. Possibly a Golden Digger wasp, Sphex ermineus.
