I think this is a female. Males are smaller, but have longer antennae. Males can also fly, whereas the females can't.

it's not a tessellated, it's a Juvenile Titan Stick Insect, Acrophylla titan, you can tell this by the shape of the cerci, in Anchiale the cerci are flat and rounded at the end, whereas in a Titan they are wavy.
